The Three-Part Formula for Success (In Anything)

Hello Lovely Readers:

Today I'm going to share with you a formula that will determine your success in almost any endeavor you undertake. I'm going to call it the Formula for Success. So, what is this formula? Here it is:

Success = (Right Action + Performed Effectively) + Effort

If you think about it, the formula makes perfect sense. You won't succeed if you do any of the following:

  • You do the wrong thing;
  • You do the right thing, but you do it in the wrong way; or
  • You don't apply enough effort.

Let's discuss the three elements of the formula in more detail, using exercise as an example.

First Element: Right Action

The first element of the success formula is right action. I see people doing incredibly ineffective exercises at the gym all the time. On Saturday I watched how one lady announced to another that she was going to show her how to perform a great glute exercise. She then proceeded to walk over to the assisted pull-up machine and use it as if it were a glute push-down machine.

The problem with using the assisted pull-up machine to exercise your glutes is that the machine is calibrated to counterbalance your weight, not to create resistance. Pushing down on it just creates a resistance seesaw, which means that you're not activating the glutes. And yet this is something that people do all the time (there's lots of videos of this on YouTube).

To succeed when weightlifting, you have to choose the right exercises. Spending an hour at the gym doing ineffective exercises will get you nowhere. To get the right results you have to do the right things. This applies to everything: starting a business, promoting your brand on social media, arguing a case in court, and so on.

Second Element: Performed Effectively

The second element of the formula is performing the right action effectively, or in the right way. One of the best glute exercises is the cable pull through. But with one caveat: it must be done in the right way.

There's one woman at my gym who does the cable pull through using a lot more weight than she can handle, which leads her to use improper form. I've seen this woman at the gym for a while now, and she has very little to show for her efforts. If this woman wants to start seeing results, she has to learn how to perform effective exercises, such as the cable pull through, in the right way.

Again, this applies to everything:

  • The right marketing strategy applied in the wrong way won't get you the results you're after.
  • The right recipe cooked in the wrong way will not result in the delicious meal you were hoping for.

Once you've identified the right action, you have to carry it out in the right way.

Third Element: With Effort

We've all seen people at the gym who are clearly putting in little to no effort. They can usually be found on a treadmill, walking at a leisurely pace, looking at their phone or talking to a friend as they "exercise". These people don't break a sweat, and they never experience even a slight shortness of breath. They reap minimal results from their minimal efforts.

Yet again, this applies to everything. As an illustration, if you spend an hour writing a report, but you're constantly being interrupted and switching between tasks, you're not going to have much to show for your efforts by the end of the hour.

The Success Formula Applied to Learning New Skills

As I announced on my blog this week, my video course, "Learn Any Skill Faster and Better: How to Learn to Code, Play the Piano, Lift Weights, Speak French, Draw, Or Anything Else", has launched.

In a nutshell, this is how the Success Formula applies to learning new skills:

  • Using the wrong methods or techniques when learning a skill will result in failure to learn the skill or make learning more difficult than it needs to be.
  • Applying the right methods and techniques but practicing the wrong way will result in a lack of progress.
  • Not applying the necessary effort because you're not focusing, you're procrastinating, you're not practicing consistently, and so on, will give you poor results.

All of these are covered in the course.

I've received several emails asking for a payment plan, so I created the option of paying for the course in 6 monthly installments.

Here's the link to enroll in the course: ENROLL IN THE COURSE.

Sincerely,

Marelisa

P.S. If you have any questions about the course that I haven't answered, send me an email and I'll get back to you: marelisafabrega@daringtolivefully.com.
